“Residents should reward LaColla with another four years,” says Poughkeepsie Journal
The Poughkeepsie Journal said it best earlier, and it’s worth repeating it.
LaColla has a strong reputation as someone willing to collaborate and look for the best ways forward. He was handed a pile of problems when he came into office in 2012, but he has dealt with them methodically and responsibly and deserves another term in office.
With Election Silly Season upon us and an opponent who recklessly says anything, it’s worth remembering what a responsible, neutral third party who does their research says. The Poughkeepsie Journal wrote:
Fishkill faced a multi-million budget deficit, experts had deemed the town’s financial outlook as “negative,” and state auditors had cited “poor budgeting practices.” But LaColla has worked in earnest to turn things around, and residents should reward him with another four years in office. Moody’s Investors Service has upgraded the town’s credit rating …, citing the “strong improvement to its financial position over the last year, including the elimination of a negative operating fund balance and improvement in liquidity.”
LaColla, known for his spreadsheets and his attention to wonky detail, has not been all about numbers. He also focused on quality of life issues, such as restoring parks and making them safe for families. As the Journal Notes:
He also is rightly upbeat about significant strides being made to the area’s trail system, something both residents and those visiting the area surely will enjoy. … Under LaColla’s leadership, The Town of Fishkill —in collaboration with the City of Beacon, Village of Cold Spring and Town of Philipstown — was awarded a grant by the New York State Hudson River Valley Greenway program…
It is worth remembering what a neutral third party says during an election cycle when many reckless and false statements are made. Bob LaColla, with all his spreadsheet and attention to detail, has done the kind of job all elected officials should do. We need to reward LaColla for a job well done and reelect him.
