Fishkill, NY — Azem “Ozzy” Albra, candidate attempting to unseat Fishkill Supervisor Bob LaColla, is employing gross misrepresentations in an attempt to mislead voters. In a leaflet disseminated to the Toll/Merrit Park communities, outright lies include insinuating that taxpayers paid $100,000.00 for a traffic study that cost only $10,000, half of which was covered by the developer. He blames the existing supervisor for traffic concerns that are the purview of the Highway Superintendent.
“My opponent’s fabrication of the facts does a disservice to our democracy,” Supervisor LaColla said. “His attempt to mislead voters could be because he doesn’t understand the responsibilities of the Town Supervisor, but I fear it is the result of more malicious intentions.”
Some blatant misrepresentations in the leaflet include:
- Albra falsely claims that a water pressure upgrade in Rolling Hills was a favor to developer. The fact is that this upgrade was mandated by the Department of Health long before the development project existed.
- Albra falsely claims that LaColla passed a 20 year bond for a Beacon Hills project. The fact is that the Town Board (not just the Supervisor) has not issued a bond for the Beacon Hills maintenance project.
- Albra falsely claims that LaColla granted Toll Brothers Certificates of Occupancy. The Supervisor does NOT control Certificates of Occupancy.
- Albra falsely claims LaColla has been in office for 12 years when he has not even been in office for 8 years.
“My opponent’s misleading and false claims demonstrate a sign of desperation, perhaps because many Democrats have come out to publicly endorse me, including a former Town Board member and a party chairman,” LaColla said. “My administration is proud of our many accomplishments.”
